What's on the menu...

Today is Friday! I love Fridays. Fridays are the days that I get to pick my husband up to spend the weekend with us. They are also the days I plan all my cooking for the weekend and go grocery shopping.

That’s right, I only cook on the weekend. I love cooking with my husband, and it’s just so much easier for me to cook all my meals at once and freeze and reheat them as I need to during the week. Sometimes I’ll cook during the week as well, like if I have a craving for brownies or tuna salad – but the majority of cooking occurs on Saturday evening and Sunday.

For this week I have a bunch of new recipes to try out. In all honesty, I’ve only been cooking for about 4 weeks now. I mentioned before that I use to bake in highschool, but after we got married and I got pregnant, my husband did most of the cooking. And when he didn’t feel like cooking, we had pizza. We ate a lot of pizza.

But now it’s my turn to take the wheel when it comes to meals. One of the benefits of cooking all my food at once is that it allows me the freedom to eat whatever I want during the week, and if my picky daughter doesn’t want to eat my fried rice, it’s no big deal for me to heat her up something else. Heck, my husband and I don’t always eat the same things!

Anyways – on the menu for this week we have:

To Die for Blueberry Muffins
Di’s Delicious Deluxe Deviled Eggs
Tiny Chicken Turnovers (made with Chicken Broth in a Slow Cooker)
Beef Barley Vegetable Soup (to help boost my Iron!)
Baked Teriyaki Chicken with House Fried Rice

All of the above recipes came from my favorite website, AllRecipes.com. Based on the reviews, I made modifications to the original recipes and it’s the recipes with modifications I’ll be sharing here. I’ll also include a link to each original recipe so that you can easily print it out for your own use if you are so inclined. (I’m also going to be making New Wife Tuna Salad because I’m seriously addicted to that stuff. And if I can work myself up to it, Chocolate Cupcakes too.)

Instead of one gigantic post on Sunday night, I’ll write up each recipe individually and share them throughout the week.
